Living Longer – Some How To’s

As a tool to predict how well you’re going to age, your own perception of just how healthy you truly are works fairly well. How does your health stack up against others in your age group?

- Excellent – Very Good – Good – Fair – Poor

If you happened to choose Fair or Poor, you’re statistically 30 times more likely to die in the next 2 years than other people. (Whoa! I don’t like those stats!) Frankly, the point here isn’t to scare you, but really only to point out that only you knows how well or how badly you feel. If you can be brutally honest with yourself, you may have to admit that your health isn’t headed in the right direction. Fortunately, there are some newly-discovered scientific principles affecting your longevity that you can use. This usually requires, though, a real change in the way we think about aging.

It has come to the realization of scientists that the fundamental function of each of the body’s systems (pulmonary, endocrine, respiratory, circulatory, etc.) is to protect and perpetuate the human genetic code. Rather, the processes that have shaped our genetic makeup over the millenniums put much more importance on perpetuating the species than they do on sustaining your individual body. Actually, they are primarily intended to protect the human species during their critical child-bearing years.

Exercise: The Best Medicine For Your Aging Brain

The irony is striking. Sitting there in the car, waiting to pick up a prescription at the drive through window of your local Walgreens pharmacy. And what’s the prescription for? High blood pressure? High cholesterol? Weight loss pills? To be sure, there are people who use the drive through who, due to injury or a handicap, may not be able to go inside to get their medicine. But I’m sure that a large percentage of people who go through that line each day are like many people these days: lazy and overweight.

I own a home care agency in St. Louis that primarily provides care for the elderly. And in this capacity, every day I see what happens to both our bodies and our minds as we get older. It’s also part of my job to stay on top of the latest research on aging. If the people sitting in their cars at the drive through see what I see each day and know what I know, they probably wouldn’t be sitting in that car!

The Truth About Anti Aging And Food

A lot of people happen to be very particular with their looks. This fact isn’t difficult to understand even with the thousands of advertisements for anti-aging creams and lotions that parade unbelievably young looking ladies in their forties and fifties. The process of aging is due to the action of free radicals that you accumulate each time you eat and you expose yourself to harmful pollutants.

How do you prevent them from causing wrinkles and fine lines? The answer is antioxidants which you can find in fruits and vegetables.

Berries

Studies have shown that berries, plums and canteloupes contain more antioxidants as compared to other fruits. That is why munching on strawberries will get you younger looking skin a lot faster than, say, bananas. You don’t have to revamp your entire diet to accommodate berries.

You can do as little as to add frozen berries to your cereals or granola or probably make a strawberry smoothie for lunch (skip on the sugar if you can).

Soda Pops Speed The Aging Process

For several decades, research studies have exposed the serious dangers of consuming too many soda pops. We know that the high sugar contributes to obesity, contributes to the increases the risk of developing diabetes, heart disease, bone loss, caner, kidney stones and severe tooth decay. New research in the FASEB Journal shows that high levels of phosphate in sodas and processed foods accelerate the aging process in mice and contribute to age-associated complications such as chronic kidney disease.

As if we didn’t already have enough reason to stop drinking sodas and eliminate processed foods from our diet, here’s another one. A new study published online in the FASEB Journal shows that high levels of phosphates may add more “pop” to sodas and processed foods than once thought. That’s because researchers found that the high levels of phosphates accelerate signs of aging. High phosphate levels may also increase the prevalence and severity of age-related complications, such as chronic kidney disease and cardiovascular calcification, and can also induce severe muscle and skin atrophy.

“Humans need a healthy diet and keeping the balance of phosphate in the diet may be important for a healthy life and longevity,” said M. Shawkat Razzaque, M.D., Ph.D., from the Department of Medicine, Infection and Immunity at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. “Avoid phosphate toxicity and enjoy a healthy life.”

Key Scientific Findings Regarding Glutathione

Our bodies are composed of different kinds of chemicals and molecules that help keep up the balance on the systems. Amino acids affect the immune system and glutathione is a molecule that helps maintain this balance at all times.

With the lifestyle changes that we are experiencing lately and with the introduction of chemicals and other preservatives in our daily foods, it has become very difficult for the body to maintain its natural balance and we are seeing more and more people getting all kinds of rare diseases because of this unbalance.

Asparagus and water melons for example are rich sources of glutathione, however, the body needs to be toxin free up to certain extend to be able to derive the best benefits from these kinds of foods. Also, the foods need to be pure and chemical free as well. Toxins in the liver need to be removed on daily basis to allow the system to function properly and it is these kinds of molecules that work at balancing the toxins in all the parts of the body.

FAQs About Type 2 Diabetes Cure

Are you searching for a type 2 diabetes cure information? Are you diagnosed with type 2 diabetes? Find out the truth about type 2 diabetes cure.

Type 2 Diabetes

Diabetes can either be type 1 or type 2. Most people would consider type 1 diabetes to be more critical and serious because people suffering from this condition do not produce adequate insulin to regulate glucose levels. It is believed that genetic factors may play a big role in the development of type 1 diabetes. Type 2 on the other hand is characterized by insulin resistance. A type 2 diabetic’s pancreas may be fully functional but the body’s cells are resistant to the influence of insulin and do not take in as much glucose for cell energy production.

Type 2 diabetes is more common in Americans than type 1 diabetes. Although it is as devastating as type 1, it can be easier to manage especially when detected early because it does not involve a defective pancreas.

Are You Suffering From One of These Common Sleep Problems?

Getting the right amount of sleep is one of the most important parts of healthy living that most adults, and many adolescents, often neglect. Even people who exercise regularly, do not smoke and avoid drinking excessive alcohol often only get a small amount of the sleep their bodies really need to thrive. Sleep is one luxury many mature adults, as well as adolescents simply don’t spend enough time doing. It is estimated that nearly 65 million Americans suffer from some sort of sleep condition.

Lots of people have a hard time sleeping for many different reasons. Sometimes health issues such as excessive weight, over indulging on alcohol or food or simply living a stressful lifestyle can lead to sleep problems. Here are some of the more common sleep conditions seen in most people today:

Sleep Apnea: This sleep condition causes a person to stop breathing momentarily while the person is sleeping. Sleep apnea can be categorized as obstructive, which means soft tissues in the rear of the throat collapse slightly while a person is sleeping, momentarily obstructing the airway and disturbing sleep. Central sleep apnea occurs when a person’s brain actually “forgets” to tell the lungs to continue breathing during the night. Snoring is a classic symptom of sleep apnea. Both types of apnea disturb sleep patterns and though they may not entirely wake a person up, they do disrupt the deep level a sleep the human body craves.

Uncover What To Be Aware Of About Glutathione

Glutathione is a naturally occurring antioxidant found in every cell of the human body. Antioxidants have recently come to the attention in the general public because of their ability to neutralize free radicals.

When free radicals are allowed to develop in the body, they can injure your bodies’ systems. More studies are being done on this free radical destroyer because it does live in every cell in your body. This puts it in the perfect position to destroy these free radicals.

When your body is under any form of stress, and also lacking in antioxidants the body produces more free radicals. The more of these that are produced the easier it is for our bodies to get overwhelmed with infections.

This molecule, is the major detoxifying agent that causes destructive substances to change into manageable products that our own bodies can extinguish. A few of these destructive substances that exist are, pesticides, heavy metals, carcinogens, and smoke.

The impressive effects of this antioxidant keep your immune system working to its full potential. At the same time, it aids in keeping all of your cells functioning exactly as they should. It is also necessary to keep your liver filtering out pollutants and other harmful chemicals that enter the body.

Get The Right Answers About Human Growth Hormone Supplements And Aging.

Many Scientists define aging as the degradation of skeletal muscle formation. Some say its an inability of DNA cell reproduction. In both cases, your human growth hormones are at the root of the subject. Human growth hormones are produced in your Anterior Pituitary gland and play a big role in cell reproduction and in your immune system function. Natural production of these hormones in your body starts to fall of when you turn twenty and is at half of its original production when you turn sixty.

Several factors contribute to the decline in production of these hormones which accelerates our natural aging posses. Genetically there are few resins why, outside of not needing these hormones, our bodies slow down their production.

Some scientists theorize that the resin our bodies slow down this production is that it’s only been in the past one hundred years that the average age of the human population has surpassed fifty. Giving the body no real resin to waste energy on these hormones. When you were a baby your mother’s milk gave you an extra boost of these growth hormones. This is why babies who was not breast fed, in early development, are smaller and less developed than those that were.
