Constant, nagging illness plagues modern society. Perhaps you are plagued by some type of chronic illness. After all, we are living longer than we ever have, thus you are at greater risk for suffering from some type of chronic condition.

3. Stay clean, very clean: Bad hygiene is a surefire way to increase unnecessary inflammation in your body. And recall that inflammation is not good for your arteries or heart. In fact, a lot of diseases and chronic conditions are a direct result of inflammation.

4. Employ cognitive techniques: Cognitive techniques are the only science-backed strategies for keeping your emotions on the positive side. And positive emotions are yet another tool for keeping those negative stress hormones from decreasing your health.

5. Floss and brush: Dental hygiene is one of the most overlooked aspects of good health. And if you have gum disease or excessive plaque, the resulting inflammation will stress your system, including your heart. So make sure you keep your mouth extra clean.
